Mr Light Adoko, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Benue South Senatorial District candidate in this year’s election, says he will bring integrity, honesty, sincerity of purpose into governance if elected.

Adoko told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that with integrity and good representation he was ready to replace the incumbent Sen. David Mark.

According to him, we are bringing on board integrity, honesty, sincerity of purpose into governance, especially in my own case.

“Yes, we have had 16 years or more if I am correct of good leadership from the former Senate President Sen. David Mark and I believe that has set up a leadership pattern that is credible and worthy of emulation.

“I am coming on board for the good people of Benue South Senatorial District as against other candidate. I have the capacity and confident and all that is required to offer them good representation.

“My slogan is tagged “Beyond Ordinary Representation”, I want to be able to go a step further and not just representing my people but to try as much as possible and as the law of the land and the resources that will be available to me to improve their standard of living.’’

Adoko promised to build the capacity of his people, especially the widows and orphans.

“I want to see how our widows and orphans who have been neglected and whose cry our God in heaven has heard, how to be able to give them a meaningful and purposeful life.

“I will also love to improve the standard of living of our widows; these women are suffering without any basic support for themselves or their children.

“That is why most of them, their daughters have gone into prostitution and sometimes ago Benue was ranked among the highest number of persons living with HIV and AIDS.

“And a number of these people are from my area which is very disheartening and heart breaking, so, I want to be able to see how I can support these categories and this class of people s0o that there will be this multiplier effect that I hope to see in the lives of our widows and their families.

“And of course, the orphan who are our youths and many of them are right now going up and down looking for people to sponsor them to schools.”

According to him, because of lack of assistance many have resorted to armed banditry and cultism is on the raise in Idomaland which is not right because it is not our culture.

“We are not foreigners to imbibe such, so, I believe that if I focus on these categories of people it will help to bring the situation of insecurity to the barest minimum.”

He also promised to improve the capacity of garri sellers, rice millers, petty traders and artisans.

“My focus will be basically about capacity building, I want to be able to build the capacity of garri sellers, rice millers, petty traders and artisans among others.

“In my place, we a have a kind of industry for shoe making where quite a lot of talented persons who make shoes that you don’t need to even travel abroad are all here in Otukpo.

“I want to be able to build their capacity and add value to their products so that it becomes attractive to the market.

“I want a situation where in my tenure people will be coming from all nooks and crannies of Nigeria to buy Otupko sandals and other materials like Aba is known for today.

“So, this are my focus and I want to see how these communities will be able to get water which is a very big problem in Idomaland,’’ he said.
