The Lagos Mainland Security Minded Committee says it will collaborate with the security agencies to ensure protection of life and property in the state.
The group’s Head of Operations, Ishola Agbodemu, said the move was in line with the Federal Government’s policy on community policing.
Agbodemu said, “Insecurity has become a national challenge that needs proactive actions. The emergence of cultism today is due to the collapse of family values, moral decadence, low standards in public education and high cost of living.
“Nigeria is becoming too scary to live in at the moment. The security challenges are becoming worrisome on a daily basis, but we believe that with a strong collaboration between communities and the security agencies, we will set new standards.”
He added, “I want to commend the Lagos Mainland Local Government under the leadership of Rashidat Essien for her commitment to ensuring the safety of life and property in the local government.”
The Area Commander, Area C, Surulere, Tijani Fatai, urged the vigilance group to be law-abiding and to cooperate with the police to prevent crime in the area. [PUNCH]
