90 top professionals battle for honours at Captain Okunbo Pro-Am golf tourney

A total of top 90 professional golfers from across the country yesterday began the quest for honours at the Captain Hosa Okunbo at 60 Pro-Am golf tournament holding at the Benin Club Golf Course, Benin City.

The professional golfers are fighting for the N1 million star prize, which is said to be the highest in the history of professional golf in Nigeria.

The tournament, which will run through Saturday, February 17, 2018, teed-off on Monday with the caddy category. In all, more than 300 professional and amateur golfers, as well as caddies are participating in the competition, which is in honour of Captain Okunbo for his contributions to the development of golf in Edo State.

The final of the professional competition will hold on Friday, but on Friday, men with handicap 18 to 28, the super veterans men and super veteran ladies, veterans ladies and the ladies handicap 29 to 36 will tee-off at the course to determine the winners in these categories.

According to the time table, the guests ladies, and special guests will open the day’s competition on Saturday by 6.30 a.m., while the amateur men of handicap 0 to 17 and ladies handicap 0 to 28 will have their day before the professionals’ final match day tee-off.
