In order to mark this year’s World Book and Copyright Day 2018, Fahimta Literary Discourse and Orpheus Literary Foundation, which have vested interest in promoting books and the connectedness of players in the literary eco-system, will tomorrow, Monday, April 23, hold a literary discourse.

It has as theme ‘Bridging the Missing Link in the Book Chain: Reappraising the Roles of Stakeholders.’ Venue is Thought Pyramid Art Centre, 18 Libreville Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja.

According to one of the organisers and children’s book author and poet, Salamatu Sule, “The discourse has become imperative in the face of multifaceted challenges plaguing the book industry and which have widened the gap between stakeholders and members of the reading public.

These problems range from writing to the manuscript level down to editors, publishers and copyrights issues, piracy and others.

The discourse hopes to focus on some of these critical issues and attempt solutions as well as open avenues of collaborations amongst stakeholders that make up the value chain for the book industry.”

Amongst some of the stakeholders expected at the event include representatives from Nigeria Copyrights Commission (NCC), Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG), National Library of Nigeria (NLN), Federal Ministry of Education, Education Resource Centre, publishers, booksellers and individuals, who have vested interested in the book industry.

Among those who will speak are ANA president, Mallam Denja Abdullahi and former Police Commissioner and former ANA Abuja chapter chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu. Also, Emergence Integrated Information Network has indicated interest to attend.
