As part of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), a novelty duel was organised on Tuesday between the younger brokers (ACS) and the older brokers (FCS).

ACS triumphed 3-0 at the end of the encounter played at the Campos Mini Stadium, CMS in Lagos.

Speaking on the occasion, a delighted CIS President, Mr. Oluwaseyi Abe, said, “Our great institute has been on for 25 years now and we want to celebrate this in grand style. We have found out that football unites everybody in the country across races and all that.

“We have decided to celebrate our professionals; we have the fellows and the associates. We have formed these teams along that line so that we can have a competition between the older and the younger stockbrokers. We believe that the football event will add colour to marking the silver jubilee anniversary of our institute.”

To CIS Second Vice President, who is also the Chairman of Programmes for the Institute, Mr. Tunde Amolegbe, the match is one in the series of events planned for the celebration.

“The match is between two categories of our members, that is the associate members and fellow members. It is a way of showing that the brokers also are physically fit. It is also to show that we are not just about money, business, shares and raising capital but are normal people that like to enjoy ourselves.”

“As a management of the institute and particularly for our members who have gone through the ups and downs with us and are still standing. This is a very unique opportunity for us to really celebrate the institute, celebrate the strides that the capital market had made despite all that had happened. The celebration calls for us to generally socialise and enjoy ourselves,” he said.
