They described as desperation the attempt by the politician who contested the House of Representatives seat for Yola North/Yola South/ Girei Constituency in the just concluded general elections on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC) but lost to All Progressives Congress (APC) to now come out trying to blackmail the Lamido of Adamawa for working for Governor Muhammadu Bindow of the APC.

They said Mustapha, who seemed to have personal grudge against the emirate was trying to use the victory of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the governorship election to blackmail the emirate and its ruler and to “vent his anger and frustration”, adding that “his antics and claim of false victory is to gain cheap political credit where he did not sow”.

“We call on our brother, Ibrahim Mustapha (Baba 10), to apologise to our leader and royal father, Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo, and indeed the defendant of Modibbo Adama for the unwarranted newspaper publication that was intended to tarnish the image of Lamido, the royal family and the traditional institution of Adamawa..

“It is against this backdrop, we collectively and unanimously resolved that, Ibrahim Mustapa should tender unreserved apology to HRH, Lamido Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa and retract his publication within seven days or face legal action for defamation and libel.

“He should also publish his apology on the Leadership newspaper and two other local media outfits in the state,” Nyibango said.

He re-iterated the commitment of members of the Modibbo Adama dynasty to disowned Baba 10 claimed which he tried to linked to the family, adding that the Lamido of Adamawa who is the chairman of Adamawa State Council of Emirs and Chief has remain loyal to any incumbent governor irrespective of religion, ethnic or political affiliation.

“The traditional rulers are part of any government and partners of all administration,” Nyibango said.
