GAC Motors speaks on partnership, Lumos Nigeria donates solar power systems to 20 winners
The President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Ibrahim Gusau has declared his readiness to give both local and foreign-based athletes a run for their money in tomorrow’s Access Bank Lagos City marathon.

Organisers of the 42km race yesterday assured of their plans to stage one of the best marathon races in the world, and the AFN boss used the occasion to announce that he would be among the competitors.

“I will be running tomorrow,” Gusau said. “I may not complete the race but I will surely be among the competitors.”

The Chief Executive Officer of NILAYO Sports Management Ltd, Bukola Olopade, whose marketing outfit is the official consultant to the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, said they would stage a race the entire world would be proud of.

Also speaking yesterday, Access Bank Executive Director, Personal Banking, Victor Etuokwu said they would continue to bring innovations to every edition of the marathon race, saying, “We want to make it a way of life, but not just a competition for the athletes.”

The Chairman of CIG/GAC Motor, Ms. Diana Chan, whose company has donated two cars for winners of the newly introduced 10km race, said her company would continue to sustain sports engineering and development in the country with first class funding and progressive initiatives.

She stated that GAC partnership with the Access Bank Lagos State City Marathon was to give it a global touch, just as she announced that GAC Motors would be launching its new brand, GS8 today as a way of remembering its marriage with the marathon. “The launching of GS8 is to make Nigerians know that we are made for more,” Chan stated.

Meanwhile, Lumos Nigeria has donated solar power systems to top 20 Nigerian winners at the marathon.

Lumos Nigeria, the leading solar-powered mobile electricity service provider, said the 20 units of Lumos solar power systems, comprising an indoor unit, a solar panel and 2 DC bulbs, valued close to N300,000 will go to the first 10 Nigerian men and women winners each, at the marathon.

According to the Vice President Marketing Lumos Nigeria, Olufemi Ashipa, the organisation, a Community Partner to the marathon, would also provide free WI-FI internet for the participants and guests at the starting point and finish line, as well as free mobile phone charging services at the marathon. “We are very pleased to be associated with the 2018 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, undoubtedly one of the leading Marathon events in Africa.”
