An All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Rivers State and her son, have allegedly stabbed a middle- aged man, Chimezie Dike to death for placing campaign posters in their neigbourhood.

The InfoTrust learnt that the posters bore the image of APC candidate, Collins Owondah, who is contesting the PHALGA Constituency II in the House of Representatives.

It was also learnt that the suspects attacked the victim because their preferred candidate lost to him (Owondah) during the party’s primary election for the slot.

An eyewitness told The InfoTrust that there was an altercation between the suspects and victim, while he was pasting the poster.

The source said during their argument, a fight ensued and Henry stabbed Dike with a dagger. He was said to have bled to death.

But the deceased, who was not an APC member, was contracted to paste the poster in the area.

Reacting to the incident, Owondah condemned the attack and killing of the victim.

Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident, stating that the police would investigate and bring the perpetrators to book.

Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has cautioned politicians against the consequences of godfather syndrome.

Wike warned Rivers people not to allow political godfathers to succeed in planting their godsons, warning that if they do, they would suffer the adverse consequences.

“Rivers politics cannot be controlled by any single politician, as it is not in the South-West where a political godfather has continued to usurp the people’s mandate,” he stated.

He said this yesterday, during the dedication of the 2019 PDP Campaigns at the Cathedral Church of Saint in Port Harcourt.

“If you allow Rivers State to be like one of the states in the south-west, we will all suffer for it. Luckily for us, we don’t speak one language. Therefore, it is very difficult for any leader from an ethnic nationality to control the entire state. In that South-West state, a godfather says something against a sitting governor and it happened. But 2019 will be the end of dictatorial tendencies in our politics,” he added.
