At CBN Junior Tennis, David wants to outshine Marylove Edwards

David Edwards, who is Marylove Edwards’ younger brother, is determined to pave his own path at the CBN Junior Championship holding at the National Stadium, Lagos. At the competition are 215 players from all over Nigeria jostling for honours.

One of the highlights of the early rounds came in the Boys 10 & under where David made his debut in a national event.

The eight-year-old David beat Israel Iyano-Taiwo from Oyo State 6-0 in the one set match and talked of his determination to surpass his sister in the game of tennis.

“I love tennis and enjoy my training. I want to be better than my sister and also go to America,” Edward, who came up with some brilliant strokes during the match, said.

He will, however, have another outstanding 10-year-old talent, Jake Nzewi from the VGC Club, Lagos to contend with.
