The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar said 70 per cent of his cabinet portfolios will go to the youths and women if elected president of Nigeria. The former Vice President also promised to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.
Addressing PDP leaders and supporters yesterday in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, Atiku accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of not delivering on its electioneering promises almost four years after assuming office.
The PDP mega presidential rally was held at the Ekiti parapo pavilion in the state capital, where party members and candidates for the forthcoming general elections gathered to lend their supports.
Atiku who assured that he would not abandon Ekiti people if he emerged winner of the February 16 poll said, “We will construct and rehabilitate all roads linking Ekiti to other neighbouring states as demanded by the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Obo Rufus Adejugbe.
‘’We will complete all federal projects not completed and restore standard and quality education, so we can give you jobs, APC don’t know how to create jobs. 40 per cent of our portfolios will go to youths while 30 per cent will go to women and that is 70 per cent for youths and women. We know how to do it and we have done it before, we will do it again.
“They have stolen all your votes before, now they want to steal your votes, they did it in Ekiti and Osun, Ogun, Bauchi, they even stole in Kastina where they come from, I don’t know why they have to steal in their home. This state has always been a PDP state”.

Also speaking at the well-attended rally, the PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (iNEC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim against subverting the will of the people in the election and avoid plunging the nation into unnecessary chaos.
Secondus who expressed optimism that PDP would win the poll said President Muhammadu Buhari has failed the people as he could not fulfill his promises of job creation, fighting insecurity and corruption.
He called on the people of Ekiti and Nigerians in general to vote for PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, saying: “Do you know why economy has collapsed? Do you know why hunger is in the land? Your President seem to be sleeping and has no energy to effectively carry on the job, that is why the economy has collapsed, we are coming with Atiku who has energy and can work 24 hours a day.
“This government of APC wants to rig election but we want to tell you that they cannot rig the coming elections because the world will focus
on Nigeria. So we are going to win this election, look at Atiku, he is tested and trusted in public and private sectors. He is a man that can turn economy around. And he has the energy for the job.
“INEC, all your plan to rig the election will fail. If you attempt to rig the polls you will be throwing the country into chaos. IGP, you aren’t the first IGP of this nation, don’t plunge the nation into chaos. It is going to be one man one vote, free and fair election,” he said.
