An Australian company, Symbol Mining/Goidal Resources, is currently developing an open pit mine for exploration of Lead-Zinc deposits in Bauchi and Nasarawa states.Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Abubakar Bwari, who disclosed this on Monday at Nigeria-Canada Investment Summit in Abuja, said they are 300 per cent above global average.

He also said that as a result of this development, various opportunities exist in both the down and upstream sectors, adding that these are now ready for exploitation.

As many analysts noted, Nigeria is still essentially a greenfield with variety of mineral types and titles, and some of the highest grades anywhere in the world,” he remarked.

He therefore assured Canadian partners that it is now much easier to do mining business in Nigeria, because of better policing of the environment to ensure safety and compliance.

“In addressing lack of geological data, we are able to facilitate payment and release of results of aeromagnetic survey of Nigeria, which was done 10 years earlier but not made public.”
