Chido Drags DSS To Court Over ‘Unlawful’ Detention, Demands N150 Million Damages

The author of the book, ‘We Are All Biafrans’, Chido Onumah, have filed a suit against the Department of State Services (DSS) and its director-general over his illegal detention at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Onumah in the suit with the number – FHC/ABJ/CS/1270/2019 – filed by his lawyer, Moses Ideh, alleged that the DSS illegally detained him and infringed on his fundamental human rights to dignity of his person.

He sought the court’s enforcement of his human right in pursuant to Section 34, 35, 39, 41 and 44 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

The author also demanded N150 million payment as damages accrued during his detention.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Onumah was released after he was arrested by the DSS on Sunday, September 29, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The activist said he was arrested and illegally detained for wearing a t-shirt with the inscription ‘We Are All Biafrans’.
