Justice Ado Muktar of Gudu Grade II Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday granted the custody of two children to their mother, Habiba Yakubu.
In his ruling, the judge held that under Islamic Laws, it is believed that the mother has the skills and patience to care for the children.
Muktar, also ordered that if Yakubu failed to take custody of the kids, they would be given to her mother.
“I hereby grant the custody of the two children to their mother “, he said.
Sani Alihu, approach the court, requesting the custody of two out of the three children of their marriage.
Alihu had informed the court that Yakubu is not capable of of caring for the children because she maltreats the children and even other children around her.
He also said according to the Islamic law, he should be giving custody of the children.
He informed the court that he was married to Yakubu for 10 years and they had three children aged, eight, six and two.
He also told the court that they have been divorce for six months niw.
Yakubu in her defence told the court that she can not maltreat her children.
‘My ex-husband took the children to his sister in the village and I was denied from seeing my children.
”My Lord, I want my children to be with me, the children are small and need their mother,” she told the court.
