The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC grilled Mohammed Kachalla on Friday, March 16, 2018 for alleged abuse of office, conspiracy, misappropriation and diversion of public funds.
The allegation was brought to the Commission through intelligence cum whistle blowing, which was received sometime in January 2018.
According to the allegation, about N667m and N24m worth contracts were awarded to Borno State Rural Water Supply Agency (RUWASA) by UNICEF and Borno State Government contract in Dangote Foundation estate Borehole and Water reticulation respectively.

More so, it was alleged that Kachalla received the amounts for the execution of the contracts and diverted same for his personal use
Kachalla was alleged to have used the materials in the store of RUWASA that were acquired by the Borno State Government through the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs meant for the construction of boreholes in the Twenty Seven LGA across the state for contracts paid for by UNICEF
It was further alleged, most of the contracts were executed by companies belonging to the General Manager and some of the Directors in the Agency (RUWASA).
Investigation into the allegation is ongoing to ascertain the veracity against the General Manager and some Directors involved in the fraud.
