Entrepreneurs Platform Initiative, (EPI) a non-profit female based business membership organisation , says it is set to empower 5,000 women entrepreneurs in the Niger Delta.
President of the group, Mercy Bello Abu, said the target would be achieved through providing outlet for startup and business owners across the country to share their experiences, as well as help one another to start, grow and sustain their businesses.
The move according to Abu would help inspire and support other entrepreneurs in their pursuits with the aim of building a lasting legacy and transforming the nation’s economy.
Abu stated this at the weekend in Port Harcourt during a training and workshop programme for female entrepreneurs. She said the platform enables young and old business people to learn the nuggets of empowering themselves, network, learn and be motivated to do more.

She said, “entrepreneurship is the future, not to try is to admit defeat, as women entrepreneurs, we have the resilient spirit of not giving up. It might be tough, only the tough will keep going. Also, by the law of association, you become who you associate with, all these women help one another to start, grow and sustain their businesses”.
It is a platform where seasoned entrepreneurs share their inspirational challenge-turned success stories to help inspire and motivate the young entrepreneurs. It is a forum where startup, struggling and established business can leverage on to create, thrive and win.”
Also speaking, a member of the platform who specialises on food products, Mrs. Okere Philomena, described her experience as worth while, noting that the testimony of others who have grown in their business inspires people to be persistent until they succeed.
Okere who is the Managing Director of Jupo foods said, the move would make women become financially reliant and improve the nation’s economy.
Some of the participants who spoke with The Guardian, Taiwo Ogundipe and Henrietta Etukudo, said the training has enabled them learnt the necessary tools to kick start their own businesses.
