Enugu South Residents Besiege INEC Collection Centre

INEC Moves PVC Collection To Wards in Kwara

Eligible voters on Monday besieged INEC office in Enugu South LGA to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in a last minute rush to beat the deadline.

At the INEC collection centre in Enugu South, hundreds of electorate were seen struggling to obtain their PVCs to be able to exercise their franchise and elect leaders of their choice during the presidential election on Feb. 16.

 

Civil servants, businessmen and women said they left their offices and shops to collect their PVCs so as to exercise their voting rights during the general elections.

 

Mr Okechukwu Ajiogu, a civil servant said it was not easy for him to leave his work for the collection of his PVC, adding that he had spent so much time but was yet collect.

 

“As a worker, it is not easy for me to leave my work and come for this collection of PVC, this is the fourth time I am coming here, I believe I will get it this time, since the distribution by the officers is moving fast,” Ajiogu said.

 

A business man, Mr Onyebuchi Igwe, said he succeeded in collecting his PVC and prayed that others still on the line would also get theirs.

 

“I am praying that they attend to everyone here today just as they attended to me. I am lucky to have gotten my.

 

“I want to commend INEC because it has really tried; even if it extends it to next month, people will still wait till the last minute to collect it,” he said.

 

A businesswoman, Mrs Ngozi Ejiofor, told NAN that the number of people seeking to collect their PVC was increasing by the minute.

 

She however, noted that the process had been orderly in spite of the large number of people to be attended to.

 

Earlier, Mr Thomas Olawuyi, the Electoral Officer for INEC PVC collection centre in Enugu South said that the deadline for the collection of PVC would end on Monday by 6.00p.m., adding that the extension was an order from the INEC authority.(NAN)
