The law firm of Falana & Falana, which finished with the silver medal last year, will play against Udo Udoma Belo-Osagie/Adepetun, Caxton-Martins, Agbor & Segun Law in Group B of the Bankola Olumide Aluko football competition, which 17th edition will kick off on Sunday at the AstroTurf 2000, Lagos.

The competition, also known as Lawyers League, is held in memory of the late notable lawyer, Mr. Bankole Olumide Aluko, a founding partner in the firm of Aluko & Oyebode, who passed on 17 years ago.

Also in Group B are the Lagos State Ministry Of Justice And Wole Olanipekun/Dele Adeshina.

At the draws held at the weekend, defending champions, Olisa Agbakoba Legal were placed in Group C alongside Templars, Sofunde Osakwe, Ogundipe & Belgore/Niccom LLP, Olaniwun Ajayi, and Pinheiro LP.

Banwo & Ighodalo, who finished in the third position last year, are in Group D alongside DOA Law/Greychapel Legal, Advocaat, Punuka Attorney and BA Law LLP/Probitas Partners LLP.

In Group A are Africa Law Practice/SPA Ajibade, Aelex, Perchstone & Graeys LP, George Etomi/FRA Williams and Aluko & Oyebode.

Explaining the format for this year’s competition, the organisers in a statement said in the 19 sides in the tournament this term are seven firms merged to form teams.

“The teams are divided into four groups, who will play eight games every Sunday over a five-week period.

“Match time for each game is 20 minutes, including half time and change over time.”

The statement added that matches would start by 3.00 p.m, adding, however, that teams must arrive in the venue 30 minutes before their game.
