Ellen Degeneres has found herself wading into a fight that is not her and the critics are not having it.

We reported that DeGeneres had comedian and actor, Kevin Hart on her show, “The Ellen DeGenres Show” where they talked about his stepping down from hosting the 2019 Oscars.

During the chat, DeGeneres revealed that she called the Academy and they told her they still want Hart to host the Oscars. She also told Hart not to mind the ‘haters’ ripping into him for homophobic comments he made back in 2011.

Fans are however not having DeGeneres calling them haters and they have since taken to social media to slam her for reducing criticism of Hart’s homophobic comments to an attack by a small group of internet haters. Considering that DeGeneres herself is a prominent lesbian, many feel that her seemingly saying the gay community is fine with Hart’s vague apology back in 2014 and his more recent post in 2018, is a betrayal of the community.

There are some who are outraged she is putting herself out as speaking for the entire LGBTQ community, one person tweeting,

“To Ellen. Unfortunately Mrs Ellen, this ain’t your fight. The harm is done and this man hasn’t learned.”

As of the time of publishing, the Academy is yet to confirm DeGeneres claim that she reached out and they still want Hart to host the Oscars.
