The Federal Government on Monday, November 9th approved the replacement of the commissioner of Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, managing director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, director general of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, and the director general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency , NIMET.
A statement signed by Permanent Secretary, on behalf of Minister of State (Aviation), Sabiu Zakari gave the names of new aviation heads as Captain Fola C. Akinkuotu, Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA.
Captain Akinkuotu is a seasoned transport pilot, flight and aircraft maintenance engineer, airline chief executive and a trained aviation industry regulator. He replaces Emma Anasi who is already due to for retirement.
The new Managing Director of NAMA, Capt. Akinkuotu had a brief stint as the director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation authority.
Before his brief appointment as DG of NCAA, he was the Rector of the International College of Aviation, Ilorin and later, the managing director of Aero Contractors, the position he held before his new appointment.
Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi, was appointed the director-general Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET). Mashi is a Professor of Geography with specialty in Environmental Application of Remote Sensing. Professor Mashi is currently a Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Abuja. He takes from Anthony Anuforom, who is also due for retirement.
Captain Abdulsalam Mohammed was appointed the Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria. An alumnus of the College, Capt. Mohammed is a renowned Civil Aviation Trainer and Examiner with accreditation by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Civil Aviation Adminisrtation. He replaces Samuel Caulcrick at NCAT.
Also appointed was Engr. Akinola Olateru as the Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB). Olateru, an engineer of international repute, is a trained Air Accident Manager and Certified Safety Officer with Aircraft Maintenance Engineering licenses in Nigeria, USA and the United Kingdom. He replaces Dr. Felix Abali, the former commissioner.
Meanwhile, the director general of NCAA, Captain Muhtar Usman and the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN were retained in their positions.
