The federal government has set up an eight-man panel to review the positions in Federal Government boards, parastatals and agencies.
The committee is headed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir Lawal.
He is to act as Chairman of the committee, which according to a statement by by Assistant Director, Press, office of the SGF, Mr. Oise Johnson, was inaugurated yesterday.
Others are Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, North-East Zone, member; Alhaji Zakari Ede, North-Central, member; Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, North-West, member; Chief Hillard Etagbo Eta, South-South, member; Chief Pius Akinyelure, South-West, member; Chief Emmanuel Eneukwe, South-East, member, and Mr. Gideon Sammani, a Senior Special Assistant to the President who will act as the Secretary of the Committee.
President Muhammadu Buhari approved the dissolution of the Governing Boards of Federal Parastatals, Agencies and Institutions with effect from Thursday, July 16, 2015.
The dissolution was announced via a statement by Femi Adesina, the special adviser by the President on media and publicity.
The statement then said, “Until the boards are reconstituted, chief executive officers of the affected parastatals, agencies and institutions are to refer all matters requiring the attention of their boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their supervising ministries.
“While the dissolution does not affect Federal Executive Bodies listed in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it covers administrative or technical committees and other similar organs established by the now dissolved boards.”
