First Bank, customs, four others qualify for Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League

Six teams from the Enugu and Abuja centres have booked their placement in the National Final of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League holding in Lagos. Following days of competition in the Atlantic conference (Enugu) and Savannah conference (Abuja), six qualifiers emerged for the final six.

In the Atlantic, current league champions, First Bank, Dolphins and new entrant, Mountain of Fire, all of Lagos booked their place. Despite a loss in the conference final in Enugu against First Bank Women basketball, Dolphins still qualified as one of the finalists.

MFM Basketball club led by Coach Aderemi Adewunmi shocked 2017 league runners up, First Deepwater in the 3rd place battle to pick the last available ticket from the Enugu centre. 

Customs enjoyed an unbeaten ride in the conference phase of the Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League to seal their place.Plateau Rocks alongside Kaduna Angels also surmounted all obstacles on their way to sealing their spots out of the 12 teams that participated in the Savannah Conference in Abuja. 

The National final six of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League will ‪hold from tomorrow, November 4 to 7, with the winner and first runner up representing Nigeria at the 2018 FIBA Africa Club Championship for women.
