The pair of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul clinched the men’s doubles title of the Tombim International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour decided yesterday at the Tennis Complex of Abuja National Stadium.
The French pair, seeded three, came from a set down to humble Zimbabwe’s twosome of Benjamin Lock and John Courtney Lock 6-7, 6-3, 10-7 in the exciting final.
The champions had earlier ousted Danylo Kalenichenko and Niels Lootsma that stopped top seed, Arjuna Kadhe/Maximilian Neuchrist 6-4, 6-2.

Earlier, Doumbia, seeded number two in the men’s singles, had whipped third seeded Kadhe from India in two straight sets 7-6(5), 7-6(0) in the semifinals to set the final stage against unseeded Floyd Jaimee Angele of France who ousted Dan Added 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-0 for his first ever final in the ITF World Tennis Tour.
“I worked hard for it, and I’m happy I made it to the final. This is my first final in the ITF World Tennis Tour,” said 19-year old Angele.
He however told The InfoTrust Sports that Accra, Ghana would be his next port of call after the three-legged ITF World Tennis Tour in the country.
“I’ll return to France after the meet in Accra,” he said.
Angele would however not stick out his neck on the outcome of today’s Tombim ITF World Tennis Tour final against Doumbia, but said he would put in his best.
A win for Doumbia or Angele would boost their ATP raking with five points, a development that would spur the players to greater action.
