National telecommunications Operator, Globacom, on Thursday partnered with e-Business Life Communications Limited, publishers of e-Business Life magazine, to celebrate the 2018 Edition of the International Girls-in-ICT Day.
Observed in 166 countries across the globe, the Day, an initiative of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the International Girls-in-ICT Day was backed by all ITU members.
The Day aims at creating global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

Speaking at the event held at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Globacom’s representative and a Manager of Glo Call Centre, Mrs Kemi Fadipe, said the company partnered with the organisers to expose participants to the various career opportunities available in the ICT sector, apart from encouraging them to aspire to such jobs.
Mrs Fadipe told the students who were drawn from 11 secondary schools in Lagos that the world now revolved around ICT and that the future hold a lot of promises for them should they go into the ICT sector.

Publisher of e-Business Life magazine and convener of Girls-in-ICT Day in Nigeria, Mrs Ufuoma Emuophedaro, said she held the event to “join our voices to the rest of the world to encourage our young girls to delve into ICT based careers or at best intensify its use in what they do.”
