Housewife Drags Abusive Husband To Court, Seeks Divorce

A housewife, Ikilima Yakubu, on Wednesday prayed a Sharia Court ll, sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, to terminate her marriage from her abusive husband, Sabi’u Mustapha.

The court ordered Mustapha to beg his wife and ensure they settle the matter es and report the result of the settlement to court.

The complainant told the court that Mustapha allegedly broke her wrist when he beat her up.

Yakubu told the court that she and her estranged husband have failed to reach a settlement.

She prayed the court to allow her pay back N50,000 her husband paid  as bride price.

The Defendant, Mustapha, 33, a businessman, who resides at Sabon Wuse, Abuja, said he paid N100,000 as bride price.

The Judge, Murtala Nasir, adjourned the case until Sept. 4, for judgment.

Nasir ordered the complainant to produce her guardians on the adjourned date.
