A housewife, Sadiya Sani, on Wednesday, prayed a Sharia Court in Minna to dissolve her marriage to Hassan Turaki, for his indebtedness to her.
Sadiya told the court that her husband owed her to the tune of N180, 000 and had since refused to pay his debt.
The petitioner also alleged that the respondent constantly beat her and that he had not been caring for her needs.
“My husband does not treat me like a woman; he is in the habit of beating me for no good reasons.
“And he does not care for me or provide for my needs as he is supposed to,’’ she said.

In his response, Turaki admitted that he beat his wife, but said that he was still in love with her.
“I love my wife and I don’t want us to go our separate ways.
“I am ready to write an undertaking that I will never beat my wife again and will pay back the money I owed her in installments,’’ he said.
The presiding judge, Ahmed Bima, granted the respondent’s plea and cautioned him against domestic violence.
Bima adjourned the matter until May 31 to enable the defendant write the undertaking and bring the first installment of N5,000 to the court.
