Two oil and gas servicing companies, Deans Oil and Gas Services and Lustre International, have threatened to relocate their operational base from Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State following threats by some cultists suspected to be loyal to former militant leader, Prince Ejima Igwedibia.
The two firm are consulting for two multinational oil companies, the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and the Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR), operating in the area.
The two firms alleged that suspected cultists, loyal to Igwedibia, also known as Don Wanie, who is currently on the run following the raiding of his base by security agents, were plotting to invade Omoku if security agents continue to harass their leader.
Speaking with newsmen at Omoku yesterday, Community Affairs Manager, Deans Oil and Gas Services, Dr. Samuel Onyeije, explained that the company was considering to relocate from Omoku as a result of threats by some boys.

Onyeije said, “It is becoming very difficult for us to operate here. It is like the boys loyal to Don Nwanee are out for us. Exactly on Monday, April 3, 2017, some gunmen attacked the home of our Head of Pipelines, Mr. Chukwunye Amadi and killed him and his father , Elder Obichere Amadi at Omoku. They also abducted his younger brother Solomon.
“After the gruesome killing of the Amadis, Ruth Olusola Amadi, Solomons’ wife fled with her children to her matrimonial home at Ikeduru in Imo State, since the cultists were overhead threatening to stop at nothing until the entire family was wiped out.
“We are calling on the Federal Government to intensify security patrol within the area, since Deans Oil employers over 300 personnel. If we relocate, most of the staff will be dropped and will be in the job market. The killing of our Pipelines Manager and members of his family is still instilling fears in the entire company.”
Recall that soldiers from 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt had attacked Don Wanie’s residence and shrine few weeks ago by he escaped with bullet wounds.
