Twenty two years after she dumped music to concentrate on her studies, Felix Liberty’s daughter, Ivie has released her latest single titled, Zionite.Ivie, who released her first solo album, Nigerian Girl, in 1996, broke the good news to fans on her Instagram page.
“I am so excited to announce to you that my new single Zionite is finally out,” she wrote. Recall that Ivie was in the country last week, where she recorded five-track EP with her father. A London-based Nigerian fashion designer, Ivie dumped music after her father advised her to concentrate on her studies.
Now, 22 years after she obeyed the voice of her father, the beautiful mother of four, who is married to Efosa Efe-Eweka, from the Benin royal family, looks promising to take the place of her father in the Nigerian music scene. The fashion designer-turned singer is overjoyed, returning to her first love-music after many years of hiatus.

According to her, she’s coming back to continue from where she stopped, adding that she has achieved everything she wanted to achieve in life.“I got married, had my kids and graduated as a fashion designer and had my Master Degree in Fashion Designing, Marketing and Production. This is the right time for me to do music because I have achieved everything I wanted to achieve. The next thing for me to do is to concentrate on my music,” Ivie said.
As the first child of Felix Libarty, Ivie said she developed the passion for music as early as seven years, when her dad used to invite her whenever he had visitors to entertain them. At 11, her dad encouraged her to release her first solo album, which unfortunately did not break into the Lagos market.
“The song made waves in some cites like Aba, Benin and Onitsha, but it didn’t break into the Lagos market. Then my newfound love in music was seriously affecting by my studies and my dad advised me to slow down a bit. That was how I dumped music in order to concentrate on my studies. And when I completed my secondary education, I travelled to the United Kingdom to further my eduction,” she narrated.
Ivie described her kind of music as a blend of RnB, reggae, hip hop and Afro pop, adding that her upcoming album is inspired by the different experiences she had at different stages of her life.
