It focuses on encouraging and motivating young Nigerians who have attained national prominence before the age of 40.“Each honoree is a living example of JCI’s belief that earth’s treasure lies in human personality and that service to humanity is the best work in life,” he added. He explained that from inception, the programme had produced youths who represented the heights of progress in numerous human endeavours, with many progressing to greater achievements due to their continued service to humanity in great variety of ways.

They include the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Editor-in-Chief of ThisDay, Nduka Obaigbena; Nollywood star, Richard Mofe-Damijo; music icon, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti; and football star, Kanu Nwankwo. Others include Gbenga Sesan, Ndidi Nwuneli, Ray Ekpu, Shina Peters and Daddy Showkey.

Explaining the process of nomination, the JCI Nigeria president, Adetola Ademiniyi-Juyitan, said it begins with public online nominations, which will run from January 8 to February 8, 2919 at its portal, www.toyp.jci.ng/nominations.

After that, the list of nominees will be carefully selected from the pool by a panel of distinguished judges. “This stage is followed by public voting, which eventually reveals the final 10 individuals who will receive the much coveted JCI TOYP Nigeria 2019 honours,” she added. She, however, urged Nigerians to partake in the nomination process to help identify young outstanding citizens who have excelled in various categories, so they could be celebrated.
