Kaduna court orders CCB chairman’s arrest over El-Rufai’s asset declaration suit

A Kaduna State High Court has issued an arrest warrant against the Chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Abuja, for contempt over his failure to testify in Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s asset declaration suit.

The suit, No: KDH/KAD/286/2015, is between El-Rufai and Today’s Publishing Company Limited, publishers of The Union newspapers.
El-Rufai had sued the newspaper, claiming it made false publication about his asset declaration.

However, the warrant issued today by Justice Mairo Mohammed of Court 2, sitting in Kaduna, ordered the Police to arrest the CCB Chairman for his failure to honour different summons of the court over El-Rufai’s asset declaration.

The court order to the Police read: “You are hereby directed to arrest the said Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau and produce him before me.”The court further called on all Police personnel and authorities to effect the arrest the CCB Chairman.The matter was adjourned until February 13, this year.
