Kings, Queens College, St. Finbarr’s, others through to semifinals

Kings College, Lagos, Igbobi College, Yaba, Queens College, Yaba and Ansar-Un-Deen Girls’ High School, Itire, have booked their spots in the semifinals of the GTBank Lagos Masters Cup Season Seven played at the Agege Stadium.

Other qualifiers include Anwar-Ul- Islam Model College, Agege, St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Atlantic Hall, Epe and Ansar-Ud Deen Girls’ High School, Itire.

Kings College defeated Chrisland Schools, Ikeja, 4-2 in a highly entertaining match. A brace from danger boy, Chwang Celestine, and two other strikes from Martins Emmanuel and Njoku ensured that they progressed to the semifinal stage of the competition.

In the other game of the male’s category, Igbobi College humbled Eko Boys High School, Mushin 4-3, via penalty shootouts after the match had ended 1-1 at regulation time. Ramon Akani scored for Igbobi, while Eko Boys’ Karis snapped the equalising goal in an evenly matched game. However, Baptist Academy, Obanikoro lost 0 – 5 to Anwar-Ul- Islam Model College, Agege, as St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka beat Atlantic Hall, Epe 0 – 1 to book their places in the next round of the tournament.

Earlier, Ansar-U-deen Girls demolised Green Springs School, Lekki, 7-0, in the girls’ cadre of the tournament as Aleem Aisha and Ademola Basira were the stars of the game. While Aleem recorded a hat trick, a brace from Basira took the match beyond the Greensprings girls.

Queen College defeated Corona School, Agbara, through a lone effort by Ogunleye, as the Season Six winners continued their march to defend their title successfully, Atlantic Hall, Epe defeated Federal Science and Technology College, Yaba 3 – 0 while Methodist Girls’ High School, Yaba also lost 1-0 to Ansar-Ud Deen Girls’ High School, Itire in the last fixture of the quarterfinals pairings.
