The Not-Too-Young-To-Run Act signed last year has claimed its first success story after a first timer, 31-year-old Muktar Shehu Ladan of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of a House of Representatives seat in Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.

Ladan defeated a former speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Ahmed Hassan-Jumare, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Also, 34-year-old Tajudeen Adeyemi Adefisoye (Small Alhaji) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won a House of Representatives seat in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency seat of Ondo State.

Head of African Union Election Observation Mission, Hailemariam Desalegn, has commended young candidates for participating in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Desalegn, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, also commended the Federal Government for the enactment of the Not-Too-Young-to-Run Act. He said the Act enhanced the participation and political representation of young people in the elections.

Meanwhile, in order to groom the next generation of leaders, Mustard Grain, a leadership institute established to promote the growth of businesses and nation building through leadership, knowledge acquisition and skills empowerment, has rolled out plans to organize leadership masterclass in the state of Atlanta Georgia, U.S.A. The coordinator, Ifejola Adeyemi, made this known at a press conference in Lagos.

She said the masterclass is designed to transform leaders in various organizations and equip them with various leadership models and processes.

Explaining the effect of bad leadership in the country, Ifejola said to get it right, organizations and individuals should utilize a medium such as the masterclass to learn the rudiments of developing their leadership skill that will boost organizational productivity. “

When people are equipped with the relevant leadership skills, it will increase productivity and aid team work, not only in organizations but also in their personal lives and public service,” she noted.

Among areas the masterclass will cover includes organizational development, business building leadership model, national transformation, communication in leadership, wealth creation principles, employee building leadership model and employer building leadership model for CEOs/ company owners, professionals, government officials, investors, heads of departments and sale/marketing company representatives.

The session holds April 1-5, 2019 and the costs of travelling for participants will be subsidized to the tune of $ 1,200 for early birds and $ 1,500 for participants who will pay after March 1.
