The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) yesterday gathered medical practitioners and professionals from different spheres of life to celebrate the late Prof. Michael Akintayo Bankole, who until his death served the institution for 15 years.

The Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Dr. Jide Idris, who was represented by Dr. Abiodun Oduwole, said the late sage contributed immensely to the development of medical practice in the country, particularly Lagos.

In her remarks at the ceremony, Dr. (Mrs.) Lolade Wright, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee described the late Professor of Paediatrics as an erudite scholar who dedicated his life to serving humanity.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, stated that the late deceased was the Dean when he graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1978.

Fabamwo advised young and upcoming doctors to practice their profession with passion stressing that Bankole towed that path of professionalism, which earned him recognition and fame even in death. He was an icon in medical practice that achieved tremendous success.

Choral music was rendered at the ceremony by Praise Chorale, led by Mr. Deinde Nelson-Cole.
