A London-based Nigerian cruiserweight boxer, Tony Salam has promised his South Africa-based Zimbabwean opponent, Chomunorwa “Sting” Gonorenda hell as both boxers clash in Harare, Zimbabwe on August 31, 2018 in a World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa Cruiserweight title fight.

The Nigerian pugilist, also known as Muri Sugar, has had 11 wins and just a loss in his previous 12 pro fights. He last fought in the Boxfest Challenge held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, last April, recording a unanimous points decision over highly-rated German opponent, Eugene Buchmeiller.

Tony Salam, who won the boxer of the night award for his doggedness and impressive display in the fight, has vowed to demolish his opponent in front of his home fans at the Independence Stadium, Harare, Zimbabwe come August 31.The ever aggressive six-footer declared that the expected home support for Gonorenda would not deter him from snatching the WBF African cruiserweight title from the Zimbabwean.

“As far as I am concerned, Gonorenda is just holding brief for me because I am the authentic cruiserweight champion of Africa. Indeed I am a potential world champion, and I will get rid of him to give me the opportunity to challenge for the world title very soon,” Tony Salam stated.

The Nigerian said he was in good form before his planned departure to Harare, Zimbabwe on August 29, 2018.Speaking further he said: “I will force the wife and children of Gonorenda to support me once we step into the ring through classy boxing.

“I’m a Grade A fighter, while Gonorenda is a Grade D boxer, so I’ll beat him silly,” he added.Meanwhile, manager of the Nigerian boxer, Saleh Fawaz, who is also CEO of Saleh Gloves Promotion, has predicted doom for the Zimbabwean, tipping his boxer to win convincingly in Harare on August 31.
