A 27-year-old man, Jacob Ogunletu, who allegedly stole six heavy duty batteries worth N1 million from Mobile Eye Nigeria Ltd., was on Wednesday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Ogunletu, who resides at Magodo area of Lagos State, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and burglary.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inhonwa told the court that the accused committed the offences with some others still at large in December 2017 at Fatai Oduniyi Street, Magodo.
Inhonwa said the accused gained access into the company’s premises by using sharp metals to open the locks.
He said the accused was caught by the company’s security guard, who saw him and his accomplices carrying the stolen items out of the premises.

Inhonwa said when the accused and his accomplice noticed that the security guard was running toward them, they fled the scene.
“The guard was able to apprehend the accused, while his accomplices escaped with the items,’’ he said.
Inhonwa said the accused was handed over to the police for questioning.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287, 308 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 307 prescribes a seven- year imprisonment for burglary while Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In her ruling, the chief magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until April 5 for mention.
