Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has signed a contract extension which runs until 2017.
The Chilean’s previous deal was due to expire next year, but he will now remain in charge of the 2013-14 Premier League champions for the next two seasons.
Former Malaga and Real Madrid boss Pellegrini became City manager in June 2013, replacing Roberto Mancini.
“The contract shows the club trusts in my work,” the 61-year-old said.

City have also given new terms to three of Pellegrini’s backroom staff – assistant manager Ruben Cousillas, goalkeeping coach Xabier Mancisidor and fitness coach Jose Cabello.
Pellegrini’s future at the club had looked uncertain, with some reports suggesting Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, a former Barcelona coach, was set to take over next season.
Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti and ex-Bayern Munich boss Jurgen Klopp were also linked with the job.
“I am not talking about Pep Guardiola, he is a manager that every team will want to manage because he is a great manager,” said Pellegrini.
“I have no problem with my relations inside the club. I know exactly how the owners think.
“I was used last season to the speculation. Carlo Ancelotti had a contract signed and Jurgen Klopp had also a contract.
“For me, the owners are happy with the way I am working. Me, I am also happy at this club. It is impossible to know about the future.”
City begin the new Premier League season at West Brom on Monday
