Ministry of Aviation supports new Airport in Lafia

The Federal Ministry of Aviation, through its Director of Projects, Dr. Ibrahim Idris, today November 10, 2015, has commended the proposed construction of new airport by the Government of Nasarawa State. He said so when he led the delegation from the Ministry including the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engr. Saleh Dunoma and other FAAN officials, on a working visit to the Governor of the State in his office.

Dr. Idris promised that the Ministry would support the State Government on that project. In his response, Governor Tanko Al-Makura, who, in the company of the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the State Government and other top Government officials, welcomed the delegates, stated that “the proposed airport in Nasarawa State will serve as alternate airport for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, serve as cargo airport for agricultural produce and serve neighbouringStates of Benue, Kogi, Kaduna, Plateau and Taraba.”

The MD of FAAN in his remarks, thanked the Government of Nasarawa State for their foresight in proposing the construction of this new airport , which he said would open up Nasarawa State to the rest of the world, stimulate economic activities and create more jobs in the state in particular and the country in general.
