The championship was held in conjunction with Dojo Kaizan with 168 participants aged from six to 50 years competing in different categories.

The fourth degree black belter, who said athletes get better when they take part in competitions, urged the federation to focus on developing athletes from the grassroots.

Muse added that the country would benefit more from equipping coaches through sponsorship to international coaching courses and training.

Also speaking on the championship, Karate Coach, David John identified funding as one of the challenges facing the development of the Shotokan sport and pleaded with corporate organisations to support activities and programmes of the federation.
