NBBF male, female leagues dunk off next month, board set to name new sponsors

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has revealed that the 2017 male and female leagues would dunk off across the country next month.According to the federation’s spokesman, Patrick Omorodion, the NBBF has started putting the logistic in place to create more excitement in the championship.

He revealed that the board would announce the new sponsors for the men’s league, which was formerly sponsored by DSTV, adding that plans were on to raise a formidable national team for the 2017 FIBA AfroBasket Championship, billed to take place in Brazzaville, the Republic of Congo from August 19 to 30.

Omorodion also declared that D’Tigers, who are defending champions of the tourney, would begin preparations early for the Africa championship.“The NBBF would start the leagues next month. Our goal this season is to ensure the players get the best assistance that will make them perform for their various clubs.

“The board would by next month announce the new sponsors of the male league. Zenith Bank is still on ground to sponsor the female league. NBBF is ready to give the necessary assistance to ensure Basketball gained more ground in the country. “The Federation elections would also hold on April. All modalities to make the programme successful have been put in place,’’ he said.
