Gary Neville is hoping Liverpool will again falter in the Premier League title race this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently hold an eight point lead over both Man City and Leicester, and are still unbeaten in the league this season.

But Neville is hoping for a repeat of last season when Liverpool, who once held an eight point lead at the summit, were caught by City, after Pep Guardiola’s side went on an incredible 14-game winning run at the back end of the campaign.

“If they blow it now, it’s going to be one of the best years I’ve had on Sky!” the Manchester United great told talkSPORT on Wednesday morning.

“Honestly, it would be the most incredible experience to watch this unfold and for them have a 12-point lead and then it dissipate before my eyes.

“I actually hope they have a 12 point lead in March and then really late just fall to pieces!”

Neville was also full of praise for Klopp’s side, who he believes have been playing “title-winning football” for the last two seasons.

“But I have to say, they’ve shown consistency now for two years, they’ve been playing title-winning football for two years and they’ve amassed points that in any other season would win a title,” he added.

“And Man City are well below where they should be. Liverpool will have to work hard not to win it now with where they are at. They must think it’s their year.”
