Nigeria Refineries produced 6m ltrs of fuel, 6m ltrs of diesel daily

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, yesterday, said the country’s three refineries produced about six million litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, daily in the month of June 2017.

The NNPC in a statement on its recently released Monthly Financial and Operations Report for the June 2017, stated that the refineries also produced six million litres of Automotive Gasoline Oil, AGO, also known as diesel.

According to the statement signed by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, the performance of the refineries ensured remarkable stability in the supply of petroleum products nationwide.

“The Corporation has maintained seamless nationwide supply and distribution of petroleum products which guarantees stable products and queue-free filling stations across the nation,” the NNPC said.

It also added that the performance of the Port Harcourt Refinery continued to improve with a boost to the midstream value chain as it inched towards sustained commercial operations.

Furthermore, The NNPC said it has   increased daily average natural gas supply to the nation’s gas power plants by 123 per cent to 730 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) as at June 2017 as against 327mmscf/d in the corresponding period in 2016.

According to the NNPC, gas supply to power plants increased slightly by 0.13 per cent from 729 mmscf/d in May 2017 to 730 mmscf/d in June 2017.

The NNPC also stated that 86 cases of pipeline breaks were recorded across the country in the month of June, adding that 77 cases were due to pipeline vandalism, which represents almost 40 per cent increase relative to cases recorded in the previous month, May 2017.

It said the Port Harcourt-Aba line recorded the highest pipeline breaches of 55 points, representing 66 per cent of the total.
