Deputy chairman (South) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has said Nigerian electorate will vote en-masse for PDP’s Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in order to correct the mistakes they made in year 2015 general elections.

Daniel stated this yesterday in Ijebu-Ode while fielding questions from journalists during the party’s presidential mega rally held across the Ogun East Senatorial district of the state.

Daniel said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), both at the national and states’ levels have failed the Nigerian electorate in areas growing the nation’s economy and national security matters, stressing that the Nigerian electorate are ready to vote them out.

The PDP’s Southern deputy chairman, who served as the governor of Ogun state between year 2003 till 2011, emphasised that the ruling APC had not set its priorities right to be able to meet up with the yearnings of the citizens.

Daniel also explained that voting for Atiku Abubakar as the next president would mean voting for the return of the country to the path of greatness.

“What Nigerians have been saying is that they believe they made a mistake in 2015 and they want to correct the mistake. We therefore decided to come out to interact with our people at all level especially the grass root to remind them the kind of administration we run when we were there and to tell them this is opportunity which is coming up on Saturday for them to return PDP to power”

“You can clearly see that our people have become fed up with the current administration at all levels. In Ogun State in particular, if you see what is going on in the last eight years, you can see that the large section of the state keep crying of marginalisation.

“You can see that the priorities that have been set are not the immediate needs of the people. You can see to a very large extent that there are what we can call the squandering of the resources of the people with projects that do not fall within the priority of the people.

“You can see that unemployment rate at the national level has plummeted; the security today is nothing to write home about. You can also see that the economy has virtually collapsed.

“So, when you look at all these indices both at the state and national level, you will find out that unfortunately the expectations of the people are not being met”.

Daniel however, appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that it prevent rigging of the election results.

“The challenge we have is to ensure that rigging is prevented and I am very sure Nigerians will not allow that to happen. We plead with the INEC and security agencies to do the right thing, because whatever they do, they must understand that Nigerians are watching.

“This is not between the PDP and anybody, this is a problem of the Nigerian people and the people will not take it kindly with anybody who tries to down play this election.”
