Nigerian Army has refuted a report that a soldier attached to the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) has been sacked for taking pictures in a colonel’s office.
An online medium had reported that the private soldier was accused of taking pictures while he seated on the superior officer’s office, a basis upon which he was sacked
The leaked message, according to the online medium, said: “Private soldier dismissed from service after taking a photo in a colonel’s office. Pls personnel should be warned cause it’s getting out of hand,” a short message sent by a commanding officer on WhatsApp to soldiers read.
But the director of army public relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, told LEADERSHIP that the said soldier had not been sacked.
He, however, said the soldier was under investigation for alleged misconduct.
“There was an incident at NAUB, an officer travelled and a soldier got into the office, sat on the official seat and took those selfies.
The reason for opening the office we don’t know; we are investigating him to unravel the motive behind such an act.
