Table-toppers Plateau United were the biggest winners in match-day eight of the 2019/20 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League as they defeated FC IfeanyiUbah 5-1 in Jos on Sunday.

The home side went ahead in the fourth minute, after Abba Umar converted a Charles Henlong assist. They quickly doubled their lead 11 minutes later through Silas Nenrot, going into the half-time 2-0 up.

Mustapha Ibrahim, Bernard Ovoke, Tosin Omoyele added more goas for Plateau in the 54th 64th 85th minutes, before Ekene Awazie scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 86th minute.

Akure-based side, Sunshine Stars, ran away with a 3-0 away victory against Adamawa United at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.

Four-goal hero, Israel Abia scored the visitors’ first goal on the stroke of half time, with two further goals by Timileyin Ogunniyi and Sadiq Yusuf.

Heartland FC were the other side to win away, defeating Kwara United 1-0 at the Ilorin Sports Stadium.

Heartland’s solitary goal was scored by Christian Pyagbara on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot.

Sikiru Alimi capitalised on a goalmouth melee to give Lobi Stars a 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.

Dakkada FC who just changed their name from Akwa Starlets, defeated reigning champions Enyimba FC 2-1 at the Nest of Champions, Uyo.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers United bounced back from Wednesday’s away loss to Enyimba by edging out hard-fighting Katsina United 2-0.

The home team started the game brightly and went in front courtesy of a fine effort from Stephen Micheal, while Ishaq Rafiu added the second 15 minutes from time.

In other fixtures Jigawa Golden Stars defeated Warri Wolves 2-1 while Enugu Rangers forced Wikki Tourist to a 1-1 draw in Bauchi.
