National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) has urged the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar to concede defeat and accept the outcome of the election.
Atiku, who was defeated in the just concluded election by the incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress, has decided to go to court over the outcome of the election. APC pulled 15, 191, 847 while Alhaji Atiku Abubakar pulled a total vote of 11, 262, 978.
A branch under NUPENG Petroleum Tankers Drivers (PTDs) has also appealed to the former vice president to reverse his decision to contest the election.
The Union’s chairman, Salimonu Oladiti, in a signed statement advised the opposition party to joins hands with the elected government to make their promises come through.

“The PTD hereby calls on the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar to accept the results and accept the election of Muhammadu Buhari as the president.” Oladiti said.
He advised all parties who won or lose in the election to accept their fate so as to avoid any crisis which may come up as a result.
“Consequently, we implore all losers, irrespective of their parties to rein in their supporters and avoid circumstances in which they may resort to acts inimical to public safety.”
The Union further appealed to President Buhari not to disappoint those who voted for him, as they trust his leadership .
“We urge President Buhari not to fail Nigerians in his commitment to the common good for the greatest number of our people. It is that care that has earned him their unwavering support despite the elite gang up. He has not disappointed them,” he said.
