Oboh ready to rumble at 2017 Ladies Open in Switzerland

Nigeria’s golf sensation, Georgia Oboh, will compete against the best women golfers in the 400,000 euros VP Bank Ladies Open in Switzerland… in May.

Georgia Oboh’s trajectory keeps rising. The Nigerian youngster, who recently tested her wits against the best women golfers from across the globe at the qualifying event for the LPGA Pure Silk Bahamas classics in Paradise Island, is on the move again. Now, her destination is Switzerland, where she has been given a wildcard to feature in the 2017 VP Bank Ladies Open.

At the 2017 VP Bank Ladies Open, the 15-year-old Oboh will be among the best players competing for the 40,000 euros prize money at the Gams-Werdenberg Golf Club, Gams in Switzerland.

The three-day tournament, which will run from May 4 to 6, is part of the Ladies European Tour (LET) Access Series. It is also the only ladies’ pro golf tournament in Switzerland.

According to the spokesperson for the organizers, Gabriele Nauer, this year would mark the fourth edition of the championship. “It is the fourth time we are having a LET Access tournament in Switzerland. Every year we are giving some young girls the chance of a wildcards and to be part of the tournament. We think, that it is very important for the golf sport, that young people get the encouragement and progress to play a LET Access Series tournaments,” Nauer said.

She disclosed that with Georgia Oboh’s invitation, the Nigerian teenage prodigy would be the first African to feature in the tournament.

Looking forward to a successful campaign, an excited Oboh said the tournament would afford her the chance to compete with the world’s best golfers in Europe.

“It is a great honour to be given the opportunity to compete with world class professional golfers on an international stage.
