Saidu noted that the seizures followed various infractions such as false declaration, concealment, wrong classification, import without end user certificate and complete disregard for import and export guidelines with intent to bring in illicit goods. He expressed concern that in spite of awareness on the consequences of smuggling on the economy, some persons still engage in smuggling for their personal interests. The Onne Customs boss also disclosed that the command generated N94 billion in 2018, about 80 per cent of annual target of ₦117.8 billion.
