No fewer than 1000 women on Tuesday stormed the Sokoto office of Independent National Election Commission (INEC) demanding that the state electoral umpire should declare Tambuwal as the duly elected governor of the state without further delay
The women, who were accompanied by over 1000 young ladies were seen displaying placards with diverse inscriptions, just as they queried rationale behind INEC’s decision to declare an election clearly won by Tambuwal inconclusive.
Some of the inscriptions read, “INEC Announce Our Vote, Our Governorship Winner Now”, Sokoto Have Spoken, Respect Our Choice”, Tambuwal, PDP Won In Sokoto”, We Have Said It, It Is Tambuwal We Want” Announce Tambuwal Or Else”, We Say No To Inconclusive Election”, amongst numerous others.

Speaking on behalf of the protesting women, both Professor, Aisha Madawaki, Dr Kuku Haruna, Kulu Sifawa with the PDP women leader, Rabi Gayawa said they were at the INEC office to register their displeasure over the Saturday’s governorship election which they claimed to have won and was declared inconclusive.
According to the annoying women, the APC led federal government in collaboration with INEC since 2015 have continue to upturn elections clearly won by PDP in the name of inconclusivity.
Giving reasons for their large turn out in support of the protest, a Permanent Member with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Hajiya Fatima Illo said no governor in Nigeria has fair leadership mindset like Tambuwal.
Backing her claim, Illo said in the history of Nigeria, it is only governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal that recognizes women by appointing 3 commissioners, 4 Special Advisers, 6 Director Generals, 3 Permanent Members and 69 Councilors into the state.
The women said they are ready to continue the protest every day until INEC declare Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as the winner of the Saturday’s governorship election held in the state.
