Ahead of today’s general elections, the Kano State Police Command said it has arrested about 500 thugs often referred to as ‘Yandabas’ in different parts of the state.

Kano State police commissioner, Mohammed Wakili told reporters that the suspected thugs, who have been remanded in prison, would soon be prosecuted.

He further stated that over 500 clubs were confiscated from the thugs adding that his men are on the trail of a notorious politician in the state who has gone underground.

Wakili assured residents that the state police command, in conjunction with other security agencies has put measures in place to ensure a peaceful, free and fair poll.

The police chief said there had not been any incidence of vote buying and selling across the 44 councils of the state.
