Ghanaian Politicians must stop making unrealistic promises to the electorate, Dr Zanetor Rawlings has said.
According to her, making unrealistic promises during elections is a self-entrapment for failure.
The daughter of former President Jerry Rawlings is seeking to win the governing National Democratic Congress’ Klottey Korle ticket in the Party’s November 21 parliamentary primaries. She is up against incumbent Nii Armah Ashittey.
In a Facebook video, Dr Rawlings said it was high time Politicians leveled with the electorate during campaigns.

“We need to be realistic, but we also need to give hope, and it mustn’t be false hope because too many times, as part of a political campaign, people get carried away and start making promises that they know will never be possible in a hundred years.
“…I don’t believe in making unrealistic promises,” she said.
She added: “I believe that we need to change the landscape so that we can encourage more people who have a lot to offer to actually become more politically active so that they can bring what they have on board, we need to change this culture of deceit and money for votes, and we need to reach out, we need to examine the real problems in the community, we need to listen to what the people in the community are saying, we need to understand the things that are worrying people, the problems that people are facing, we need to really get to grips with what’s going on, on the ground and our message should be structured on what we know we can do to help, and not the intangibles, not the promises that we know we cannot keep.”
