The next episode of the Glo-sponsored TV series, Professor Johnbull, is a dissection of the superiority contest between Ghana and Nigeria since colonial times.

The nationals of the two countries which are the leading lights in West Africa, often exchange playful banters over several aspects of life in both countries, arguing over which one is better. Entitled, “Ghana versus Nigeria Jollof”, the episode is reminiscent of the recent social media war between Ghanaians and Nigerians over whose Jollof rice is better.

The episode features two Ghanaian actresses, Martha Ankoma and Salma Mumin, in addition to the regular stars, Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo), Nje (Angela Okorie), Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko), Flash (Stephen Odimgbe), Jeroboam (Osita Iheme), and the series’ restaurateur, Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), among others.

Steeped in humour and wisecracks, the fresh episode highlights the issue, using interesting plots and sub-plots. The major plot climaxes with a mock battle between two women, each representing Ghana and Nigeria, over who could cook the better Jollof rice.

Expectedly, some of the characters were polarised with some supporting the Ghanaian woman, Ajuwa (Martha Ankoma) and some supporting the Nigerian woman, Nje.

There is a sub-plot of a twist in the love story between Jumoke and Flash. It does seem the loyalty of Flash to his long time lover, Bidemi, is under serious threat. Ghana versus Nigeria Jollof is showing 6.00 p.m. on Sunday on DSTV Africa Magic Family and GOTV Channel 2, with repeat broadcast on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. on the cable TV channels. The show airs also on Anambra Broadcasting Service at 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday.
